Comparing Wireless Landline from BayanTel and PLDT
After searching around the internet to find the comparison of Wireless Landline between BayanTel and PLDT, it took me so much time just to get the detailed service features of PLDT. PLDT are very good at deceiving people when it comes to promoting their products. They’ll give lower rate per month but it’s always not at par with the competitors.
PLDT can’t even put up a decent web site showing the complete feature list of their products since they know that their product offering is inferior.
Below is the most simple comparison that shows the major differences between the 2 products:
BayanTel Wireless Landline
Monthly Service Fee             P699.00
Unlimited Landline Calls       Yes - no time limit
Service Coverage                 Anywhere with BayanTel Wireless Signal
PLDT Wireless Landline PLUS
Monthly Service Fee             P600.00
Unlimited Landline Calls       600 mins (10 hrs)/month or 20 mins/day
                                         P1.00/min in excess of 600 minutes/month
Service Coverage                 Within 1.5 kilometers of the Service AreaÂ
You can’t use the phone in other areas
Conclusion:
Don’t be deceived. Choose the product wisely. 600 mins from PLDT only gives you 20 minutes of calls per day then you pay more at the end. In addition, If you applied your PLDT Wireless Landline in Quezon City, you can’t use it in other areas outside of Quezon City such as Caloocan City, Manila City, Makati City and etc. PLDT does this to prevent Smart from losing sales due to this new kind of product offering from BayanTel. I highly recommend that everyone should get BayanTel Wireless Landline. Cooler and Smaller phones, plus real unlimited calls.

i agree. i’ve been searching pldt sites and there’s nothing about the wireless phone service.
you do have a point when you said that we’ll end up paying more with pldt wireless, but is bayan’s service better than pldt’s?

I agree, cant even find a decent website from PLDT for their wireless features. Tska 1.5 kms lang. wala din. Talagang parang wireless lang. If they could convert the existing phones into wireless w/ the same coverage and same fees as bayan wireless they could be ahead of the competition. Just think, if everybody uses Bayantel Wireless or if this wireless thing booms, malulugi tlga ang globe and smart and even sun kc wala ng may kailangan ng celphone. I’d rather talk to someone instead of texting them db.

I got my unit conveniently delivered to my place on the same day I requested for it, by following the steps in
http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/191070/Bayantel+Wireless+Landline
Because each unit is pre-activated, I was able to use it as soon as I got the unit. It was a good thing coz I needed to make several calls later that day, and I didn’t want to use my cellphone to make those calls dahil expensive.
Another major advantage is I don’t have to stay home to wait for a call or make calls anymore kasi it’s so easy to bring it along. Meron lang konting delay (about 1-2 seconds) when connecting to other landlines, but otherwise, everything’s A-ok so far (after 1 month of use).

Dear all,
I would just like to share with you an experience with buying this BayanTel Wireless Phone. If you are planning to get one, “DON’Tâ€! At least perhaps not this time yet. I was one of those people who got the eagerness, excitement, and enthusiasm to try out this “revolutionary†landline phone services. And likewise, I was one of those people who got dismayed, unsatisfied, and returned the units as well.
The service really sucks! It’s is very unreliable in terms of connectivity, hence you can’t rely on it for emergencies.
I got one of those cellphone-like units, since I don’t like to walk around the Metro carrying a standard landphone-like unit. Frankly it looks funny and maybe stupid to see in the streets. Pardon for some. Anyway, It’s hard to get a signal anywhere. And even if you do find a good signal, you can’t still be reached. I have experienced having a full signal, but when I tried to call using my BayanTel landline (the one standard connected to wires) to contact my BayanTel Wireless, it would say “Cannot be reached.†I am in the heart of Cubao, Q.C. I am even very near a BayanTel Business Center. There is also no signal inside the malls, nor outside the malls. You really need to be literally on the road or streets, yes not on sidewalks, but literally on the streets, to get a great service. In fairness, when you do get a good service, the audio quality is quite good actually. That’s if you get a good service!
I even had the experience that whenever I try to call my wireless unit, I can see that the signal drops to zero whenever my wired landline tries to connect to it. Duh????? Yeah! It’s also hard to connect to a landline when calling using the BayanTel Wireless phone. ANY landline in that case, even if you are calling a BayanTel landphone. Likewise, the text messaging doesn’t work! I tried sending text messages to my Bayantel Wireless using all mobile providers (Globe, Touch, Smart, Talk N’ Text, Addict, Sun), but it didn’t receive any of those.
The battery too drops and gets low instantly even on stand-by idle time. I charged the unit for almost 8 hours, took it off the charger at 4am, I slept and when I got up at 9am, the phone is dead! Apparently, the customer service told me that the reason for getting an instant drop on the battery is because the phone continuously searches for signal hence needing more constant battery power. Meaning, the BayanTel Wireless CDMA signal is really weak! She also told me that this is unlike our usual GSM cellphones that the network providers’ signal is the one searching for phones to serve, in this case, BayanTel Wireless (and may be PLDT too) phone units is the one searching for signal.
I have also tried to return my unit (ZTE) to BayanTel, ‘coz they have this money-back guarantee thing, but instead they insisted to have my unit changed to a different brand and model (Huawei). But seems that the phones are alright, it is the service that sucks!
And one last thing, speaking of money back guarantee, BayanTel has this “15-day Money Back Guarantee†policy. Yes it is clearly written on their striking red flyers and tarpaulins. But what they don’t include is that there is actually a P500 processing fee if you choose to return it! Total Marketing deception! This is B.S.! It’s like getting us pay more than half of what they charge for a monthly subscription fee. Their monthly subscription fee for a wireless service is P699 VAT inclusive. And for a 15-day Money Back Guarantee period, they robbed me with P500! It’s like I paid more than half of it!
I am not the only ones that BayanTel has ripped off with this. A lot of people have been complaining and returning their units and giving up their subscriptions. The ratio could be 9 out of 10 users are not satisfied. They are making money with their P500 processing fee instead of their actual monthly service fee.
Let this be a warning to everyone. You are still better with your cellphones. Don’t get ripped off!
Pass this on… warn others…

I have a Bayantel Wireless Landline desktop phone. I have been using this for 2 months inside my house (Alabang area), and I don’t have any complaints about the service or the phone. In fact I recommended this to my 3 friends (two in Makati and one in Mandaluyong) and they have no complaints too. But all of us are using the ZTE deskphone, the big black one.
I am even thinking of getting a second unit (one that’s similar to cellphones). Does anyone have any feedback about the Huawei cellphone type unit?
Thanks in advance!

have been using huawei for 1 month already. i bring this to the office and to my gimmicks also. have not encountered any of the problems darrell james mentioned, so maybe the unit DOES matter. it’s P500 more expensive than the zte cellphone type, though.
got it also from sulit site that angel gabriel listed, i.e.,

With regards to Bayantel wireless landline service - I would advise everyone NOT TO GET THIS esp the cellular phone unit. I need to call a bayantel wireless landline number like 5 times just to make a connection and the conversation drops like 5-10 times in the middle of a conversation. The signal as advertised - is NOT A GOOD in certain areas esp in Makati. Until Bayantel improves and upgrades their signal and connections - I strongly suggest NO ONE USE their service. Their connections sucks big time.

for those planning to get the BayanTel Wireless Phone,
get the desktop model, the big black one
i trade mine for the cellular type ZTE it sucks.
weak signal in QC area,
short battery life,
gets hot to the ear while using,
although it is the individual responsibility to decide for themselves , i still think it is the duty of the gov’t to protect the general public,
my 2 cents

According to earlier comments, PLDT’s Landline Plus only works within a small service area but their website http://www.pldt.com.ph/prod-serv/business/landline_plus.htm suggests that it will work within a given area code. Quote: “The service is locked within a certain service area, and can only be used within that area. Service will only function in areas covered by the same area code, e.g. within Metro Manila (02).” That’s wide coverage in my opinion, or do they mean ’subsections within an area code’? That would be misleading.

can a Baytantel wireless landline be used with a dial up internet card?

I live in an area where landline is basically limited. When BTW was launched here, I grabbed the opportunity and the service is good. There was a problem with signal for awhile– phone’s signal weakens when inside the house… I got the ZTE desktop phone and BTW recommended an antenna which cost me P700. I got the signal and now enjoying reliable dial up services with BTW since Smart Broadband here was also misrepresented and has very bad signal (another article, I guess). I cannot wait for BTW DSL soon…

I have 2 unit in bayantel phone service which is wireless landline & wired landline. The wireless landline which is desktop style i applied it for davao and its work better and no problem and its almost a year already. BUt im planning here in manila to get prepaid bayantel wireless, i dnt have any idea right now if its work better and same with bayantel wireless desktop style of phone. Hope the bayantel will improved more there wireless signal coz as far i know they have better service than PLDT wireless phone. And you are all right guys PLDT dnt have enough information of there service in there website. I was looking there PLDT wireless info but they dnt have it. I only knows about there pldt wireless info thru my friend who has on it in there house and she having problem of extra fee’s everymonth due to the 600 minutes per month is not enough, may be if they make it unlimited local calls to any local phone landline that much better more better than bayantel. So BAYANTEL & PLDT improve you SERVICE so you both big compitator of landline will GO ON HIGH and encourage PEOPLE of the philippines to get your PRODUCT & SERVICE.

I have the bayantel wireless landline and I chose the cellphone unit. The hwawei brand.
Everything about it sucks. The reason I took this over PLDT was because it’s unlimited.
Reception is bad! If you go to enclosed areas (even a little bit enclosed), reception drops to zero! I also encountered a problem of unstable reception. Now it’s has full bars then when you try to call it will say NO SERVICE. When I complained, they gave me a report and they will not even bother to call you back. You, yourself would need to follow up on that problem. They said there’s no problem and the unit is fine, it’s just that there’s no signal in areas enclosed. I took this phone so I can use it also in the office but there’s no signal in the office. It’s not even that enclosed. I don’t think Bayantel expects its users to use their phone when you’re outside your house or outside your office. Then what’s the point of having this phone?
I also encountered a problem of calls being cut after 1-5 minutes. I called them up and they gave me another report number. They said there’s “NO PROBLEM” and i just need to reset my phone.
It’s true, after awhile of using the unit, it becomes really really hot. Battery life is so short. You need to charge it at least 1-2 times a day.
I complained to their customer service for so many times and I don’t need your reports since nothing is really done about it and the service is becoming worse and worse. Yes, they have a 15 day money back guarantee but during the 15 day period, the problems didn’t arise yet. Now I want to terminate the contract and they’re telling me I have to pay? Or if I don’t pay, I should surrender the unit.
Yes, I want to surrender the unit because what will I do with it? I want to terminate the contract and I am not willing to pay anything. In fact, I want a refund for the money I paid for the Phone.
Bayantel wireless landline sucks. Service is bad and likewise the customer service of bayantel is really bad as well.
They will just keep on sending you report numbers. Who cares about the reports? What matters is that they improve their service. Bayantel customer service should REPORT TO the necessary people to REPORT that their service sucks and there are many unsatisfied bayantel users.

huawei handheld:
cons:
init sa tenga ng unit pag mga 3 minutes ka na nag talk, bwisit
ubos bat kahahanap ng signal in 1 hour, so pag wlang signal, required switch off, required lagi i-monitor kung may signal
wlang available na car charger ang mag fit sa type ng tusukan nya
wlang available na spare bat ako mahanap sa mga stores
pang outgoing lang sya dahil lagi mo off or malaki ang risk na ma discharge sya
pros:
ayos naman pag may signal, at nasa labas ka ng bahay
conclusion:
lugi ka sa 700 per month, dapat prepaid ang kunin mo
yung nokia unit ang kunin, pero mukang di na nila sell ang nokia anymore
be sure na may signal sa mga areas na madalas ka, otherwise, tapon ka lang ng pera
